Cheese
Fondue
1 clove garlic, halved
¾ pound cheddar/marble cheese, grated
¼ pound Gouda cheese, grated
2 cups dry white wine
1 tsp dry mustard
1/8 tsp each salt and pepper
2 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp water
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 loaf French bread, cubed
2 or 3 apples cut in wedges
broccoli, bite-sized pieces
cauliflower, bite-sized pieces
carrots, chopped
celery, chopped
cucumber, sliced
Rub bottom and sides of 3-quart saucepan with garlic; discard garlic.
Add cheese, wine, mustard, salt and pepper. Cook over medium heat,
stirring constantly, until cheese melts and mixture is blended. Combine
cornstarch and water until smooth; add to cheese mixture. Add lemon
juice. Bring to a boil and let boil for 1 minute. Pour into fondue pot,
over low heat. Serve with bread, apples and vegetables
